Frequently Asked Questions
What is WebRTC?
WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communications) is a unique technology that enables you to provide VoIP calling via a web browser, without needing any phone equipment or software applications. Telinta’s WebRTC solution provides you with a brandable web-based softphone for both inbound and outbound calling, either on a stand-alone basis or integrated with one of our other cloud-based solutions.
How does the WebRTC Self-Serve Portal work?
Telinta provides convenient Self-Serve portals which our customers can use to complement the services they offer to end users, including WebRTC. These brandable multi-language portals enable your end users to set up their account, recharge a prepaid balance, review call detail records and more. If you choose to also offer optional services such as call forwarding, call screening and voice mail, your users can configure them via the Portal.
How do outbound calls work?
Telinta’s WebRTC solution includes a unique web-based Dialer for your users to place calls when they open the Portal. The Dialer generates standard DTMF for touchtone prompts and calling. The WebRTC Dialer initiates calls similarly to any other SIP end-point, with calls routed according to your TeliCore configuration and your own VoIP Termination carriers.
How do inbound calls work?
Your users can receive inbound calls when the WebRTC Portal is open, even if it is running in the browser’s background. A customizable ring tone will alert the user of an inbound call and the browser tab containing the Portal begins to blink. You can enable inbound calling from the PSTN by assigning the WebRTC user any phone number provided by your own DID provider. Peer-to-peer “on-net” calling, which does not use the PSTN, can be performed between your users without using a DID. Telinta does not charge for on-net calling, enabling you to create attractive and profitable offers for your users.
How can mobile devices be used with WebRTC?
Mobile browsers, which support WebRTC calling can be used with our solution. However for mobile devices, Telinta also offers a separate Mobile Softphone solution for Android and Apple iOS mobile devices.
What browsers can be used for calling?
Telinta’s WebRTC solution will work with most modern web browsers.
Does Telinta provide DIDs or VoIP Termination?
No. Telinta does not provide DIDs or VoIP Termination. Instead we enable our customers to use any provider they need. Telinta has partnered with several leading DID providers and VoIP Termination carriers so that Telinta customers will receive special pricing, however customers are not obligated to use our partners.
